Siemens 3RH1122-AP00 used in Water Cooled Rectifier
There are three cooling methods for rectifiers: air cooling, water cooling, and oil cooling. Here, we mainly introduce the advantages and disadvantages of water cooling:
1) Water cooled rectifier:
For high-power DC power supplies, poor environmental conditions such as corrosive smoke, high dust, and high ambient temperatures require high IP ratings and are more suitable for water cooling.
The heat generated by the power semiconductor components inside the rectifier will be dissipated through circulating cooling water. Cold water (below 35 ℃) enters the rectifier cooling circuit and discharges hot water. Through this cycle, the heat is dissipated to maintain the normal operation of the rectifier.
The advantages of water cooling:
A. Less maintenance is required, and there is no need to replace the cooling fan like a air-cooled system;
B. Relatively low cost;
C. Has better cooling performance in high temperature environments up to 50 ℃;
D. High power rectifier has better heat dissipation effect;
E. Cabinet sealed, suitable for corrosive environments;
F. Higher IP level;
G. Low noise level;
H. Smaller size.
Disadvantages:
A. Users are required to provide suitable cooling water
